Shipping Agreement

The following terms govern the transportation of freight and apply to all shipments unless otherwise agreed in writing. By tendering freight, the shipper agrees to these conditions.

General Freight Terms and Conditions

  1. CUBING FACTOR: Shipments are subject to a minimum weight of 10 LBS per cubic foot.
  2. METRIC EQUIVALENT: 1 Kilogram = 2.2046 LBS.
  3. DANGEROUS GOODS: Dangerous goods may be transported only in accordance with the laws, rules and regulation of the Federal Government. Every person whether as principal or agent, shipping dangerous goods without full written disclosure on the Bill of Lading of their nature, shall indemnify the carrier of all loss, damage or injury caused thereby. The goods may be warehoused at the risk and expense of the owner without compensation. The following charges will apply: 0–19,999 LBS – 10% (minimum $10.00 per shipment).
  4. CARRIER LIABILITY: The LTL rates are based on a shipment value at a maximum of $2.00 per pound. If higher value is declared on the Bill of Lading an excess value charge will be assessed at 2% of Declared Value with a minimum of $25.00 per shipment, up to a maximum of $5.00/lbs.
  5. STORAGE: Charges will apply after 5 business days from date of arrival. Charges will be $1.05 per 100 LBS per day or a fraction thereof, with a minimum of $7.50 per day.
  6. PROTECTIVE SERVICE: The carrier will not be obligated to supply hot or cold protective service on shipment unless arrangements are made in advance and the request is endorsed on the Bill of Lading. The rate assessed will be 10% on LTL (less than 20,000 LBS). The minimum charge on LTL is $15.00 and on a truckload shipment $150.00.
  7. TARPED LOADS: On loads that require tarping an additional flat charge of $150.00 shall be assessed.
  8. CLAIMS, OVERAGES, SHORTAGES & DAMAGES: All claims must be made in writing and be accompanied by certified copies of: (1) the original invoice, (2) the original Bill of Lading, (3) the original paid freight bill, and (4) any other documents necessary in proof of amount claimed. Overages and/or shortages must be noted at the time of receipt of goods and recognized by a delivery employee by his/her signature on the delivery receipt. No shortages may be claimed for items in an unopened or undamaged box or crate. Items marked as repacks will be at shippers’ risk. All claims must be filed within 30 days of delivery date.
  9. RATES FOR PICKUP/DELIVERY FOR COMMUNITIES OUTSIDE OF EDMONTON: Including Nisku, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan and Acheson, rate an additional $100.00 on all LTL shipments.
  10. RESIDENTIAL DELIVERY: Additional charge of $55.00 per delivery.
  11. POWER TAILGATE: Additional charge of $50.00 per delivery.
  12. HIGHWAY DROPS: Additional charge of $80.00 per drop (e.g., Toad River, Swift River, Liard Hot Springs, Watson Lake, Rancheria, Teslin). Fireside drop charges will be $150.00 per shipment.
  13. LINEAR FOOT: When the freight occupies 10 feet of trailer space or more (or is packaged in such a way that other freight cannot be stored on top of or on either side of it), the chargeable weight will be calculated at 1000 LBS per linear foot of space used.
  14. OVER LENGTH FREIGHT: Pieces exceeding 12 feet will be subject to a long freight charge — $80.00.
  15. FUEL SURCHARGES: All freight shipments are subject to fuel surcharge of 39.5% (subject to change monthly). Refer to our website at PNWGROUP.CA for updated fuel surcharge percentage.
  16. INSIDE DELIVERY: Additional charge of $55.00 per delivery.
